Sandro Rosell

Sandro Rosell memilih mundur menyusul pengusutan pengadilan atas kesepakatan transfer Neymar.

The top two teams in La Liga, with 49 points each, go head to head at the Vicente Calderón

Everyone iwill be there, including top scorers Diego Costa and Messi, the recovered Neymar and the pardoned Juanfran

The big day has arrived. Although this is only the halfway stage of the current league campaign, Saturday’s game (20.00 CET, Canal Plus) could have a huge bearing on the eventual outcome. The Vicente Calderón is the venue, and Atlético Madrid and FC Barcelona are the teams, first and second in the table and both on 49 points. Things just don’t get any closer than that.

Neymar is back

Both teams go into the match with all of their main stars available. Leo Messi is back for Barça, fresh from scoring two midweek goals against Getafe, and Neymar has recovered from a bout of gastroenteritis that kept him out of that game. But with all of Cesc, Alexis and Pedro in fine form, it is unclear what kind of attack Tata Martino is going opt to field.
Unbeaten at the Calderón

Diego Simeone probably has less to think about when it comes to picking his starting elven. Atlético Madrid can practically field their strongest possible side now that the Competition Committee has decided to withdraw the yellow card shown to Juanfran in Malaga, which in theory meant he was going to be suspended for this game. Diego Costa, one of the most impressive players in the Spanish championship this season, is ready for action, as is former FC Barcelona man David Villa, who scored against his former team-mates in the preseason Supercup. Only Mario Suárez, who has been out injured for some time, is missing from the home line-up.

Atlético Madrid have won all nine games played in their stadium this season. Barça have won 2-1 on their last three trips to the Calderón, but against one of the finest Atlético teams we have seen for many a year, Saturday night’s visit promises to be the toughest challenge of all.

On January 8 1984, Diego Maradona returned from injury to score twice at the Camp Nou
This Wednesday, Messi repeated the feat with his brace against Getafe

Maradona - Messi

Diego Armando Maradona and Leo Messi have plenty in common - they are both Argentineans, are amongst the best players ever and have played for FC Barcelona. It's not just the big things though and on Wednesday another small coincidence was thrown up.

On 8 January 1984,at the Camp Nou, Diego Armando Maradona made his comeback after a serious injury he'd picked up a few months before at San Mames. It was the first game of the year and Barça were playing Seville - Maradona started, playing for 68 minutes - and scored twice in the 3-1 win

After teh game, Maradona declared: “I'm really happy. Mne was a good performance, but I have to thank my team mates who made it easy for me, and especially the warm reception from the fans. No matter how many goals I score, I'll never be able to repay that love from the crowd".

Exactly 30 years later, the story was repeated, with Leo Messi grabbing the headlines. The Argentinean had been out since November and came off the bench in teh Cup game against Getafe for the last 30 minutes to score two goals in a memorable cameo.

Similar sentiments

In his after match comments, Messi also echoed Maradona, explaining: "Whilst the fans show their love for me, I want to play out my career here at Barça", whislt also praising his teammates: "the squad has shown how good it is. Whoever plays, we put in a performance - this is a squad of players who stand up to the mark".

It was also against Getafe - on April 18, 2007 - that Messi scored a copy of Maradona's famous goal against England in 1986, when he dribbled through half the team from his own half to fire home.
